Fruita rec to have bike rodeo
Test your newspaper throwing skills and see how far you can toss a bike tire during the annual Bike Rodeo in Fruita.
Hosted by Fruita’s recreation department and Western Flyers, the free community event will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 17, in the Fruita Civic Center parking lot, 325 E. Aspen Ave.
Participants of all ages are welcome and will be required to wear a helmet. New helmets will be available to purchase for $5 or a donation.
Bike-riding participants can try an obstacle course, attempt a tightrope ride, join slow race or break through a BMX starting gate.
The event will include bike and helmet fittings and bike safety checks, and a safety course and bike registration cards will be available.
Western Flyers also is having a helmet drive and will be accepting new helmets and donations to purchase helmets for area children.
