Gateway to have its first Paint-Out

This painting was created by watercolor artist Frank Francese, who is one of a five area artists who will be featured during the two-day Labor Day Paint-Out at Gateway Canyon Resort.

Visual artists and lovers of beautiful art can visit Gateway Canyons Resort for the inaugural two-day Labor Day Paint-Out.

Grand Junction artists Frank Francese (watercolor), Jac Kephart (pastel) and Terry Shepherd (pottery) will join Montrose artists Dino Farnese (oil) and Kurt Isgreen (watercolor) as the featured artists. Watch them work during the free event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.

Other local artists can participate free of charge, Francese said. Artists just need to arrive with their materials by 10 a.m. on either day and be prepared to work in the outdoor setting.

A free, public wine and cheese reception and exhibition of paintings and pottery by the featured artists will be from 6:30–8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Kayenta Conference room at the resort.
