Gears and Beers Festival in Paonia has lots of activities

Get in gear and head to the Gears and Beers Festival that mixes bikes, brew and music for two days in Paonia.

On Friday and Saturday, June 3-4, there will be road, town and mountain biking, a costume parade, scavenger hunt, professional riding clinics and the regional nano-brewery beer tasting garden.

The event starts with “Bike Shorts,” fun, short biking movies, to be shown on the big screen at 8 p.m. Friday at Paradise Theatre. Tickets are $10 at the door or in advance at Revolution Brewing, Galaxy Bike and Sport or Paradise Theatre. Tickets also can be purchased at http://www.paradiseofpaonia.com.

A live music dance party will be from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Paradise Theatre. Admission is $10. Local musician Joealan will open for headliner Spore Favore with a groovy-dancing fusion of funk, jam, bluegrass and more.

Other events Saturday will take place on Grand Avenue in Paonia, and almost every event is free.
