GJ Centennial Band Summer Concert Series free, good time
The Grand Junction Centennial Band will perform several free concerts in local parks this summer, thanks to a little help from its friends.
The all-volunteer organization is made up of Western Slope men and women “dedicated to making a unique musical and cultural contribution to our community presenting concerts in the Great American Band tradition,” according to the band’s website, gjcentennialband.com.
The band was formed more than 35 years ago and performs concerts during the summer in local parks, at area festivals and during the holidays at various local venues.
Its free summer concert series, which was scaled back last year, is set to begin for 2017 “funded in part by a host of businesses and individuals from the Grand Valley and Friends of the Grand Junction Centennial Band,” the band’s website said.
