GJ symphony to present music from around the world children’s concert
Travel at the speed of sound on a musical journey of the world during the 30th annual Symphony Children’s Concert.
“Around the World at the Speed of Sound” will be presented by The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, The Grand Valley Children’s Choir and Talking Rhythms.
It will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St.
A news release describes the concert as featuring music and composers from Europe, South America and the United States. The Talking Rhythms, a percussion ensemble, will present the sounds from Africa.
The Grand Valley Children’s Choir, an auditioned group of students in third through eighth grades, “will perform a Ghana folk song, ‘Tue, Tue,’ and ‘Deux Petites Chansons,’ as well as ‘Pasta,’ which incorporates classic Italian melodies,” the news release said.
The concert is designed for children ages 12 and younger and also is open to the general public.
