GJHS actors put humorous spin on Shakespeare

Grand Junction High School seniors Savannah Hansen, Kailyn Bennett and Bailey Evans headline the drama department’s production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11.



This isn’t your granddad’s Shakespeare.

The Grand Junction High School drama department presents “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10–11, in the high school’s auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St.

The whirlwind roller-coaster tribute to William Shakespeare’s work features performing 37 plays and 154 sonnets in under two hours, using football, swordplay, hip-hop music, puns, pratfalls and elaborate sight gags.

Three actresses, seniors Kailyn Bennett, Bailey Evans and Savannah Hansen headline the frenetic-paced theatrics.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students and are available at the box office.
