Go green at Southwest Arbor Fest

Environmental awareness will take center stage at this year’s combination of Earth Day and the annual Southwest Arbor Fest celebration.

Admission is free to the green-minded festival that will go from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Lincoln Park.

There will be arts and craft booths, vendors, demonstrations and presentations, plus free tree seedling giveaways, while supplies last.

Musicians Tony Rosario, Zolopht and the Destroyers and Flat Top Reed will perform throughout the afternoon and there will be hands-on activities for kids, face painting, tree climbing, a bounce house, a touch-a-truck experience and more.

Partake in the samplings from the chili and salsa competitions, visit food vendors and watch equestrian gymnastics and aerial acrobatics.

Area breweries will be featured at the Colorado Craft Beer Expo. Cost is $20 and includes a commemorative glass and unlimited beer tastings.

And if you think you’re hot stuff then enter the jalapeno eating contest at 4 p.m. for a chance to win $100.
