Fellhauer wins Montrose Invite
Grand Junction’s Jordan Fellhauer blew away the competition at Monday’s Montrose Invitational at Cobble Creek Golf Course, finishing first with a 72.
“She’s been working on a lot of things, and her game was great today,” Grand Junction coach Kevin LaDuke said. “We’ve been expecting that for a long time.”
The Tigers also got an 87 from Jordan Tufly to propel Grand Junction to a first-place finish with a 263 team score.
Central’s Loren Forney finished with a 78, and the Warriors finished second at 277. Fruita Monument was led by Amy Hurshman’s 93. The Wildcats’ Tymerie Ho added a 95. Palisade was led by Mandi Green’s 97.
Four Mavs in top 20 in Arizona
Kristina Casillas is tied for third and four of Mesa State’s five golfers are in the top 20 after Monday’s first round of the RMAC golf championship at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
Casillas shot a 76, five strokes behind leader Glynnis Price of Western New Mexico.
Montana State Billings leads the team standings with a 320. Western New Mexico is second at 323 and Mesa State third at 328.
Mesa’s Jessica Berve is tied for ninth at 81, Michelle Stripp tied for 12th with an 84 and Jennifer Hilts tied for 18th with a first-round 87. Afton Balling is tied for 27th with an 89.
Mesa men tied for sixth place
Mesa State is tied for sixth place with Colorado School of Mines after the first two rounds of the RMAC men’s golf championship at Poston Butte Golf Course in Florence, Ariz.
Eric Farmer is 16th after rounds of 79 and 72 for a 151 score. Brandon Bingaman and Calen Hoppe are tied for 22nd at 154, John Savage is tied for 40th at 159 and Adam Golesh is tied for 44th at 162.
CU-Colorado Springs leads the field at 580. The Mavericks shot a 612. Chris Shoop of UCCS leads the tournament at 138.
