High school honor choir to be at GJHS

Students vocalists from 20 Colorado high schools were selected to perform in the annual Statewide Honor Choir.

This special choir will give a concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St.

The choir will be joined by the Mesa State Chamber Choir and the Grand Valley Children’s Choir, a collection of more than 130 voices.

The Mesa State Chamber Choir is directed by of Monte Atkinson, who also is the guest pianist for the concert, according to a news release.

The Chamber Choir will perform an original composition by Mesa State Musical Theater faculty member Jeremy Franklin.

The Grand Valley Children’s Choir is directed by Linda Koeman and Pamela Scott.

The honors choir will be conducted by Jeffrey Gemmell from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Tickets are $4 for adults and seniors and $2 for students, and are available at the door or from the Mesa State College Box Office.
