Learn book altering at The Blue Pig

You read it, you liked it, but now it just sits on a shelf.

Why not learn how to turn that discarded or treasured book into a fabulous piece of art.

Judith Cassel-Mamet will offer an Altered Book Workshop from 1– 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at The Blue Pig Gallery, 119 W. Third St., in Palisade.

Participants will be introduced to sampling of techniques to get started, as well as ideas for both the beginner and experienced college and mixed media artist.

A discarded book will be provided to alter. Participants need to bring a glue stick, collage papers, ephemera (fibers, broken jewelry, etc.) and an Exacto knife. Rubber stamps and ink are optional.

Cassel-Mamet has taught mixed media, book arts and collage at the Art Student League of Denver and is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver. Learn more about her http://www.jcmamet.net.

Cost for the workshop is $30.
