Lines West: March 21

Where Are They

At the break of dawn, where do the stars go?

Do they tire themselves

Somehow?

Do they run to the moon

To give it light?

Are they blending in

To the large,  blue sky like a chameleon?

Do they hide away

From the many eyes trying to see them?

Are they giving their light

To the sun to brighten the earth?

Are the stars lost

Dreams of the unfortunate ones?

Are they the imagination

Stolen from a child’s once-fragile mind?

Are they the beauty

Gone from aged faces?

Are the stars loved ones

Taken by death, watching us?

At the break of dawn, where to the stars go?
