If Only I Were 18

If only I were 18,

I could earn my own money.

If only I were 18,

I would buy my own things

without any one telling me what to do.

If only I were 18,

I would buy my own car and

be independent!

But

if I were 18,

I would have to be at work on time,

I would have to make car payments,

my parents would tell me to behave

like a lady.

If I were 18,

I wouldn’t be able to climb

a tree, play hopscotch, or even

play in the mud.

This is why I prefer to stay 11.
