Lines West: Riding Black Beauty

Riding
Black Beauty

The old black Ford pick-up

was the workhorse of the farm

as it hauled the needed tools

like the shovels and tubes and dams.

Legs and feet a-dangling,

we’d sit on the tailgate,

for riding in this fashion

was considered first rate.

With our pony tails bobbing,

smiling and laughing along,

our farming adventures awaited

like an old sweet song.
