Locals get chance to show talent in semifinals

Area semifinalists in the Colorado You Got Talent showcase will get their 15 minutes of fame on stage during the Western Slope semifinals competition at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St.

Earlier this year, more than 30 auditions took place at various locations around the state and approximately 200 competitors were chosen for semi-finals in Grand Junction and Colorado Springs.

Grand Valley singers Breann Blackman, Jordan Blackman and Destinee Reed are among the semifinalists. Performers — youths to adults — from locales such as Durango, Carbondale, Alamosa, Craig and Ignacio will compete in multiple categories.

Local guest bands No Outlet and Haven Effect also will perform during the taping of the show.

The winners of the Colorado You Got Talent can potentially receive a full album recording contract sponsored by proSound and Soteria Records, cash and other prizes.

General admission is $15.50 for adults and $8.50 for children. Main floor center stage tickets are $22.50 for adults and $12.50 for children. Tickets can be purchase at http://www.coloradotalent.org. A portion of the ticket sales will support FamilyNation At-Risk Youth Services and the Aurora Shooting Victims Fund.
