Look Out! Dema’s ‘shabby chic’ look

“If I feel cheerful I wear bright colors, but if not, then it’s black and white!” says Dema, who describes her style as “shabby chic.”

Scene: Dema works in the boutique section of the New York Moon Boutique & Salon, 418 Main St., and was waiting on customers taking advantage of a 50 percent off moving sale. NY Moon is moving to 2470 F Road, Unit 12.

Style: Dema topped her stretchy Noblita stove-pipe jeans with an ecru loose-knit cardigan from NY Moon over a hot-pink tee, which was a birthday gift from her granddaughter, and a silver camisole. Her shoes are patent croc-patterned loafers from a previous line NY Moon carried.

Fashion Sense: “I’ve always lived on a ranch so I’ve not had much reason to dress up,” Dema said. “Coming here was a new experience of learning how to dress again.”

Describing her style as “shabby chic,” Dema said that before she decides what she will wear to work, she checks the weather. “If I feel cheerful I wear bright colors, but if not, then it’s black and white!”
