Martin wins two diving titles at UNLV
Colorado Mesa’s Brock Martin won both diving titles Monday in the UNLV Winter Invitational, scoring 295.65 points in the 1-meter event and 289.05 points in the 3-meter event.
Savannah Craft was fifth in the women’s 3-meter event with 216.25 points and eighth in the 1-meter finals with 179.5 points. Amanda Jennings was sixth in the 3-meter diving with 213 points.
Robert Eisendrath placed seventh in the men’s 200-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 57.81 seconds, one of three Mavs to place in the event. Jeremy Pacheco was 13th (2:02.81) and Eric Black 16th (2:05.42). The men’s team placed fifth in the six-team, three-day meet with 311 points.
The women’s team finished ninth of nine teams with 59 points. Briana Purkapile had the highest place of the final day for Mesa, 12th in the 200 butterfly (2:12.630).
Brett Lowe was 11th in the men’s 200 breaststroke (2:12.69) and Andy Gibbons 14th (2:15.79). Three men placed in the 200 butterfly, with Tyler Kaslik 14th (1:59.40), Shawn Seuschek 15th (2:03.31) and Shawn Grace 16th (2:07.24).
The women’s 400 free relay team of Purkapile, Kelly Hogan, Annie Jones and Samantha Parker placed 14th in 3:44.56. The men’s 400 free relay team of Joshua Scheuermann, Mehdi El Hazzaz, Lowe and Peter Szekely placed seventh in 3:11.05.
