Mesa Theater and Club hosting 5 local bands
The Support Local Showcase puts on a variety of music genres with one element in common: The five bands call the Grand Valley home.
Mesa Theater and Club will host the showcase, which starts at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Mesa Theater and Club, 538 Main St.
Here are rundown of the bands and sounds to expect:
Heavy Drags features members Ross Vegas, Tom, Gavin, Diamond Robb and Andrew playing tropical/thrash/soul (Source: Facebook).
Shotgun Hodown — “genre benders” — features members Rob on vocals, guitar, electric washboard; Amanda on vocals, keyboard, tambourine; D’Ray on vocals, bass; and Billy with kick box, high hat and assorted found items (source: Facebook).
Drop Top Lincoln features Scotty Waters as lead vocals, harmonica; Casey Smart on lead guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, banjo; Chris Howard on bass guitar, vocals; and Jack Chipchase on drums. The band plays electric hillbilly with jamband tendencies, and alternative country (source: Facebook).
The Tankerays have a vintage/psychobilly sound with Brian Mora on guitar, vocals, songwriter; Mike Thornberg on drums and percussion; and Lisa Lopez on bass and background vocals (source: thetankerays.com).
Bad Karma Kings: A random Facebook post from a fan describes the band playing a “brutal attack of ska-punk” during a previous Grand Junction show.
Tickets to the showcase are $10 for the all-ages show. Doors open at 8 p.m.
