Montrose County Fair’s theme for 2014: ‘Vintage. New. You.’
More than a week of events are planned for this year’s Montrose County Fair and Rodeo, happening Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 27, at the Montrose County Fairgrounds, 1001 N. Second St., in Montrose.
“Vintage. New. You.” is the theme of this year’s jam-packed event.
Colorado Professional Rodeo Association Rodeo events will kick-off the first weekend at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, July 18–19, at the rodeo arena. Admission is $5 each night.
Head to the fairgrounds early Saturday, July 19, for the pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., at the Cattlewomen’s Pavilion, then line up on Main Street for the parade that begins at 10 a.m.
The Olathe Credit Union Green Chili cook-off is 5 p.m. Saturday, July 19, followed by lawn games and the beard and mustache contest.
Daily events will feature various agricultures shows, entertainment, contests, demonstrations, music and more. Other fair highlights are:
■ Monday, July 21 is Kid Day, featuring kids cupcake decorating, a puppet show, sidewalk art contest, cutest baby contest and more.
■ Tuesday, July 22 is Bacon Day, complete with a bacon eating contest at 6 p.m.
■ Wednesday, July 23 is Community Night, beginning at 4 p.m., with a barbecue and old fashioned carnival, contests and a petting zoo.
■ Friday, July 25 features the Enduro X at 6:30 p.m. ($5)
■ Saturday, July 26 offers the Ranch Rodeo at 6:30 p.m. ($5)
■ Sunday, July 27, the fair concludes with the Royalty Gymkhana at 1 p.m.
