Mozart to be in spotlight in Rifle, Glenwood Springs
The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s principal flautist will join Symphony in the Valley in putting “Mozart in the Spotlight.”
Jane Kuenzel will perform Mozart’s “Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in G Major” for the Symphony in the Valley’s season-opening concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Rifle High School and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Glenwood Springs High School.
Kuenzel has performed as a flute soloist with orchestras in Charleston, S.C., and Evansville, Ind., and was principal flute for orchestras in Evansville and at Owensboro, Ky., according to a news release. She also has performed with orchestras in San Francisco and St. Paul, Minn. She has held the principal flute position for the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra since 2005.
Other Mozart pieces on the program are the overture to Mozart’s light-hearted opera “The Magic Flute” and “Symphony No. 36,” also known as the Linz Symphony.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $6 for ages 3–18 and $30 for families. Music students are admitted free.
