How do you like your jazz: mild or spicy?

How about a little of both?

Jazz groups from Colorado Mesa University will perform both mild and spicy jazz tunes beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Warehouse 25Sixty-Five, 2565 American Way.

The free concert will feature CMU’s Vocal Chords directed by Monte Atkinson and the Jazz Combo and the Jazz Ensemble, both directed by Darin Kamstra.

Vocal Chords “will perform familiar ballads and some spicy, jazzed up Bach compositions that may be familiar to audiences,” a news release said.

The Jazz Combo will perform “original student compositions based on the chord progressions of jazz standards.”

The Jazz Ensemble “will perform standards by the Count Basie Orchestra, the late bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorius, Chick Corea and others.”
