Music Scene: Western Colorado Chorale, more
Pack your holiday bags and join the Western Colorado Chorale for a trip down Christmas memory lane.
Nostalgic winter songs and more will be featured in the chorale’s second concert of the season, “Carols and Brass,” presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 19–20, at the Recital Hall in Colorado Mesa University’s Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.
“Experience the World” is the theme of the three concerts in Western Colorado Chorale’s 2013–14 season. “Carols and Brass” will “transport us all through Christmas music to places far and wide,” said the program notes at westerncoloradochorale.org.
The performance “will feature brass and organ music in concert with the voices and The CMU Faculty Brass Quintet and guest organist Martha Sandford-Heyns joins us to bring Daniel Pinkham’s stirring Christmas Cantata to life,” the notes said.
“Other anthems, ringing brass melodies, carols for choir and organ and nostalgic winter songs will take us to hearth and memory land and will complete this winter holiday trip.”
In its 29th season, the Western Colorado Chorale is directed by Monte Atkinson.
Concert tickets cost $5–$15 and can be purchased at gjsymphony.org, by calling 243-6787 and at the door.
