It’s a simpler form of math: electronic + hip-hop + a one-of-a-kind live show = K Theory.

San Francisco-based trio K Theory will drop beats at 9 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Mesa Theater and Lounge, 538 Main St.

Not to be confused with the mathematics term, K Theory is the electronic musicians Malcolm Anthony (vocals), Dylan Lewman (sampling, live conducting) and Dustin Musser (keys, sampling).

Playing “broken beats, for broken lives,” the trio’s Facebook page bio says the “group has made serious waves and played shows all over the continent.”

“With an unbelievably unique live show, the act has sold an astounding number of tickets in 2013 and played many major festivals. With top releases on labels OWSLA, Simplify and their own homegrown K Theory Music label, they have spread their music to all corners of the globe and created an impenetrable brand.”

Tickets to the 18-and-older Mesa Theater show cost $9 in advance or $12 the day of show, and $5 for students with valid ID.
