Music Scene: Rogue Valley and other area shows for Oct. 14–20
Rogue Valley, a five-piece Americana band from Minneapolis, is a band for all seasons.
The group recorded and released four albums during a period of 12 months: April 2010 to April 2011.
The albums are a “four-part series of full-length albums navigating the terrain of love, loss and wanderlust, and each marked by the changing seasons,” according to lostinroguevalley.com.
Rogue Valley will mark the seasons through its music at a show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the KAFM Radio Room, 1310 Ute Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m.
“Crater Lake” was the first in Rogue Valley’s series of albums and was written by the band’s songwriter and vocalist, Chris Koza, “as an ode to Spring.” The “summer” release was titled “The Bookseller’s House,” autumn was “Geese in the Flyway,” and winter concluded the series with “False Floors.”
A 12-song vinyl compilation featuring a few tracks from each of the four albums was released in 2012.
Rogue Valley tours regionally and nationally performing at a variety of venues and festivals. Its song The Wolves and The Ravens was chosen by director/producer/actor Ben Stiller for the sound track of his 2013 comedy adventure film “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”
