New violin faculty at Colorado Mesa University, Joung Hoon Song, will be introduced at the annual Music Faculty Gala at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Recital Hall of the university’s Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.

The concert will feature a fun and varied program of solos and ensembles, a news release said. A catered reception in the lobby will follow the concert.

Song also is the new concertmaster for the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.

Before his move to the Grand Valley, Song concertmaster was a member of the violin, viola and chamber music faculty at New England Conservatory Preparatory School and School of Continuing Education.

He has previously had faculty positions for The Juilliard Iceland Youth Symphony Orchestra program and Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets to the gala cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
