Music Scene: The Dust Stompers and other shows for Aug. 23-29
The Dust Stompers mashed together a variety of genres and came up with “The Grit of Acoustic” and will bring that sound to the Grand Valley when they perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Cruisers Bar, 715 Horizon Drive.
The Denver band released its debut album “Fairly Rock and Roll” on July 13 and embarked on a tour through Colorado and Utah.
“Delving into the musical traditions of several generations, they have mashed together bluegrass, country, blues, soul, folk, and good ol’ rock and roll into a brew of audible bliss,” says the “about” link at duststompers.com.
Among the band’s influences listed on its Facebook page are Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Aretha Franklin, Leon Redbone and Dire Straights.
“Their high energy shows, edgy songwriting, and unmistakable swagger on stage are guaranteed to please the senses and leave the audience begging for more of the grit of Americana,” according to duststompers.com.
The band — Jeremy Reffel on guitar and vocals, Mitchell Milavec on guitar and vocals, Jimmy Curtis on bass and vocals and Brian Rempel on drums and vocals — formed in 2011 invites fans to download select live and free Dust Stompers shows from its website and welcomes recording and trading of all of its concerts.
