Music Scene: Three Bad Jacks and other area shows set for May 26–June 1

Three Bad Jacks

Card games aside, Los Angeles-based Three Bad Jacks knows how to draw a full house.

The Los Angeles-based, three-man band is on tour and will play at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Cruisers Bar, 715 Horizon Drive.

Whether the band is dealing a winning hand of its renegade rock ‘n’ roll or shuffling between rockabilly and psychobilly, they have an earned an “international reputation as rock & roll wild-men” whose “mix of the sensitive and savage is impressive, and the ability to navigate such a broad musical spectrum is even more so,” according to the band’s Facebook page.

The band averages more than 250 shows each year, and its members are lead singer/guitarist Elvis Suissa, bassist Dave Eckles and drummer John Palmer.

Three Bad Jacks has three albums: “Made of Stone,” released in 1999; “Crazy in the Head,” in 2006; and “Pictures & Memories From Home,” in 2011.

The latter is a “straight-up rock & roll record that draws from that transitional period of the late ‘50s-early ‘60s, but it’s also as modern and original sounding as we could make it,” Suissa said in the band’s online biography.

Guests The Tankerays will open this Cruisers Bar show.
