Music Scene: Tony Holiday and the Velvetones and other area shows, concerts for Oct. 13–19
Tony Holiday and the Velvetones will perform an evening “harmonica-based funk and jump blues” at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Cruisers Bar, 715 Horizon Drive.
The Salt Lake City-based band plays a “musical gumbo of Dirty Rock and Down Home Blues,” according to its Facebook bio.
Tony Holiday sings and plays harmonica, Joel Meza plays the drums, Gordon Greenwood and Cody Downes are on bass and Lanny “Stringbean” Stone plays guitar.
Tony Holiday and The Velvetones “live and breathe the open road,” the bio say. When they’re not on tour you’ll find them “prepping hard for their next one. It’s just what they do.”
The band cites its musical influences as William Clarke, Adam Gussow, SRV, ZZ Top, Ronnie Shellist, Kim Wilson, Brandon Santini and Rick Estrin.
