Palisade Art and Chocolate Walk to feature affordable local work
It’s the event all art lovers hope their friends and family will attend.
On Saturday, Palisade’s Art & Chocolate Walk promises to tickle participants’ taste buds. And, lucky you if you’re the recipient of any of the unique and mostly locally made offerings sold through the galleries.
“People say, ‘I don’t have $1,000 to spend on a painting,’ ” artist Dianna Fritzler said. “There are tons of gift items for sale that are reasonably priced.”
Some Palisade residents may already know about the specially priced art sales the town’s galleries offer around Christmas. The secret’s out now that the town is set to celebrate its second annual Chocolate Walk.
From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, galleries will offer chocolate goodies, and Palisade Cafe, 113 W. Third St., and Red Rose Cafe, 235 Main St., will offer some chocolate-themed items. After dark, the participating stores will be identified with lighted luminaries.
Participants can browse for jewelry, note cards, journals, ceramics and artwork, among other gifts. Blue Pig Gallery, 119 W. Third St., is having a mini art show, which will include 2-inch by 3-inch paintings by Fritzler for $27.
Recently opened Creative Canvas Gallery at the Twisted Brick Studios, 128 E. Third St., will offer free 5-inch by 7-inch canvases for painting. The studio offers its paints and brushes and instruction to help everyone be an artist.
Special classes for children will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. An adult class will be offered from 2–3:30 p.m. Classes for each age group are $35 per person. Canvases and supplies for painting usually run $25 for a 16-inch by 20-inch canvas, Fritzler said.
Groups also can secure the facility for special occasions.
“I’m giving all my girlfriends a painting session for Christmas,” Fritzler said.
