Palisade festival moved to higher ground
The Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival is happening — come hell or high water.
And the high water came.
Despite high-running water from the Colorado River, festival organizers found a way to ensure music fans can safely enjoy the musical acts for the Friday, June 10, through Sunday, June 12, festival at Riverbend Park.
The festival layout has changed to make sure the festival and campground areas are all above potential flood zones in Riverbend Park.
“There is a good chance that the old (west) side of the park won’t be under water, but even if the area threatens to be soggy, it’s worth the move to the east side of the park,” said Palisade’s public works director Frank Watt in a news release earlier in the week.
Riverbend Park is more than 100 acres, so organizers aren’t worried about accommodating musical acts and festival-goers on the east side, the release added.
This year’s festival includes a dozen acts over three days, with the focus on bluegrass and roots music.
