Pastel Society Show in Montrose

More than 60 pastel artists from across the country will showcase their original artwork in the upcoming Pastel Society of Colorado Member Show.

The Around the Corner Art Gallery, 447 E. Main St., in Montrose, will host the show Saturday, March 1, through Monday, March 31.

An opening reception and awards presentation for the month-long exhibit will go from 5:30–8 p.m. Friday, March 7. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served with live dixieland jazz from the Jordan Carls Trio.

Acclaimed Colorado plein air painter Ralph Oberg was selected as the show judge, and the pastel artists will vie for more than $500 in prize money. Oberg will give a judge’s talk at 5 p.m. Friday, March 7, before the reception.

Each piece in the show must be an original completed within the past two years that hasn’t been shown at another Member’s Show.

All paintings are for sale.

The Pastel Society of Colorado reception is just one event scheduled during the monthly First Friday in downtown Montrose on March 7.
