Peach festival organizers recruiting volunteers for help this weekend

The Palisade Peach Festival arrives in full swing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and with the big event fast approaching, organizers are putting out the call that they’re in real need of volunteers.

Folks who volunteer get free admission to the festival, a free T-shirt, a meal on Friday evening, and lunch and dinner on Saturday while the food lasts. Volunteers also get to listen to all the great music planned for Saturday and Sunday.

The local chamber needs shuttle drivers (only a regular license is required), check-in booth attendants, set-up and tear-down help, assistance with the planned three- and five-mile runs, parking attendants and helpers at the Riverbend Park bar.

All shifts are three hours long, and volunteers can move around between areas of responsibility, said Kathy Fernandez, executive director at the Palisade Chamber of Commerce. Volunteers can work one day, or all three days, depending on what they would like to do.

Anyone interested should contact Fernandez at the chamber office, 319 Main Street, or by phone at 464-7458.

While the chamber’s festival events begin on Friday, the town is sponsoring an ice cream social and street dance event for Thursday evening, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
