Percussion Duo to perform at CMU

The fascinating combination of marimba and timpani and more will captivate audiences during the performance of the MIJI Percussion Duo, a Guest Artist Series concert and part of the sixth annual Western Colorado Percussion Festival at Colorado Mesa University.

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in the Recital Hall of the university’s Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.

MIJI features Ji Hye Jung, an assistant professor of percussion at the University of Kansas, and Michael Zell, who has served as principal timpanist with the Annapolis (Maryland) Symphony Orchestra since 2006.

Jung and Zell also will present master classes during the festival, which concludes Saturday, Oct. 29.

Tickets to the Friday concert are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students and children.
