Postcard art exhibit to be at CMU

It isn’t the usual “having-a-great-time-wish-you-were-here” postcard collection.

The 4x6/6x4 Postcard Exhibit at Colorado Mesa University features postcard-sized work created by artists in Colorado, across the country and the world.

An opening reception for the exhibit will go from 6–8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Art Gallery at the University Center.

“The exhibit is a Legacy Campaign Event in which every work is for sale at the set price of $20, with all proceeds going to the Art Department Endowment,” according to a news release about the exhibit.

The endowment supports art department programs such as visiting artists, exhibitions, equipment and events, the release said.

The postcards were made using a variety of media, from paints to pencil to prints, the release said.

This year, a catalog will be available of purchase that features all participants’ artwork. A link to the publication is posted at the 4x6/6x4 Postcard Exhibit site, http://www.coloradomesa.edu/art/legacy_exhibit.html.

Artwork sales will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, and continue through the exhibit, which closes March 8.

Call the CMU art department at 248-1833 for information.
