Powderhorn plans full weekend of eats, rugged duathlon
Powderhorn will host a Summer Celebration on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3–4, featuring its first ever barbecue and chili cook off, a trail running race/mountain bike race, and activities and fun for all ages.
Get ready to get dirty.
The Dirty Duathlon — the trail running and mountain bike race — will be Saturday, Aug. 3, with a variety of classifications: male and female solo with three age groups — 12–18, 19–45, 45 and older; coed team; male team; female team; and bike shop team.
Start time is 9:30 a.m. and you must be checked in by 9 a.m. Day of event registrations are due by 8:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for individuals and $35 for teams. Registration cost goes up the day of the event.
The chili and barbecue cook-off fires up Sunday, Aug. 4, with a limit of 15 chili cooks and 10 barbecue cooks. The competition will start promptly at noon.
Other activities happening both days from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. are a kids’ corner with arts and crafts. Cost per child is a $5 wrist band, that allows all day entry. There will be a bungee tramp at the cost of $5 per jump or $30 for an all-day pass.
Music will begin at 1 p.m. featuring the Tanqerays on Saturday and The Living Wills on Sunday. Food and beverages will be available for purchase as well as drinks from the bar.
