Monument in paint
A variety of amazing views of Colorado National Monument will be captured by more than 20 local artists during the 2017 Colorado National Monument Plein Air.
Perhaps one of the easiest times and spots to find all the artists painting will be from 8–10 a.m. Wednesday during a paint out at the Saddlehorn Picnic Area parking lot in the monument.
Visit with the artists and see their work before they move to other spots in the monument.
Colorado National Monument Plein Air runs Tuesday through Sunday, Oct. 3–7, with the painting wrapping up at noon Friday, Oct. 6. Each artist will then place their best piece in an event exhibition hung in the Visitor Center auditorium. John David Phillips, a local oil painter, will judge the show.
The exhibition will open for a preview night for Colorado National Monument Association members and event sponsors from 5–8 p.m. Friday. Nonmember tickets cost $30.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
