Raise a glass
Grab some friends and head for the 2016 Great West Beer Fest at Colorado Mesa University.
This fundraiser for various university clubs and organizations will go from 4–8 p.m. Friday in Maverick Pavilion.
There will be live music, beer tasting and competition, door prizes and a silent auction.
Tickets cost $25 in advance at supportingcmu.org/events or $30 at the door. Designated drivers get in free.
Saturday, Nov. 5
Bands supporting bands
See Stray Grass and the Desert Flyer Band are performing in the GJHS Band Parents Inc.‘s concert series to support the Grand Junction High School band program.
The concert is set to start at 6:45 p.m. Saturday in the Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St. Door open at 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $10. There will be food and soda along with the great music.

The new cabaret series begins at Colorado Mesa University with “Broadway, Tin Pan Alley and the American Songbook” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Mesa Experimental Theater in the Moss Performing Arts Center.
The performance will “celebrated the music of classic Broadway with songs by Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and many more,” according to a news release.
Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and CMU faculty and staff or $6 for students.
The cabaret series was created “as an opportunity for students to gain further and varied experience and to raise money for music theatre scholarships,” the news release said.
