An opening reception for this show will be from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at Help Hospitalized Veterans Community-Based Arts and Crafts Center, 1670 North Ave.

There are more than 40 creations in the show, including Bionicles, Technics and Star Wars pieces. Some of the remote-control operated pieces can only be seen at the opening reception.

All the pieces were built by veterans Keith (Army) and Diana (Air Force) Reed.

All ages are welcome at this show. Refreshments will be served.

In connection with the LEGO Extravaganza, a learning clinic will be offered Sept. 2. Check with the Center for information.

Dance for Delaney
Friday, Aug. 5

Get ready to dance and celebrate what would have been Delaney Clements’ 14th birthday.

“Join us at Delaney’s tree to ‘Shake it Off’ and dance in the spirit of the most beautiful fabulous dancing queen,” according to a Facebook post.

Delaney, who died March after a six-year fight with cancer, brought awareness and hope to others across the nation dealing with cancer. The Grand Junction City Council earlier this week proclaimed this day as Delaney Day.

To celebrate, wear a Delaney shirt or gold and/or purple clothes and ribbon. Gather with others to dance at a tree lighting ceremony from 7:30–8:30 p.m. at Delaney’s tree at Lincoln Park.

Birthday messages for Delaney can be made at #happybirthdaydelaney.

If you can’t make the event, then make a video of “your best Delaney Clements inspired dance moves” and post it online.

For information, go to “Delaney Day Dance Party” on Facebook.
