Quick Picks: Dog swim dates at local pools; ‘Old School’ showing

Get ready to release the hounds! Local swimming pools are wrapping up their seasons and have set dates to let area dogs go for a swim.

The first dog-only swim will be from 4–7 p.m. Tuesday at Palisade Pool, 571 W. Fifth St., in Palisade. Admission is $5 per dog or $10 for three dogs.

Proceeds from this Dog Days go to the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. For information, call 464-5602 or go to townofpalisade.org.

Next up is Dog Daze from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 9 in the outdoor pool at the Fruita Community Center, 324 N. Coulson St., in Fruita.

Donations from Dog Daze also go the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. For information, call 858-0360.

And finally, Dog Days is set for Sept. 10 at Lincoln Park-Moyer Swimming Pool in Grand Junction.

Dogs 25 pounds or less can jump in the pool from 10–11 a.m., and all dogs are welcome from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission is $5 per dog or $12 for up to four dogs.

Proceeds from this event go to the Roice-Hurst Humane Society and the Billy Crawford Memorial Lifeguard Scholarship Fund. For information, call 254-3866.

Saturday, Sept. 2

Go ‘Old School’

Enjoy a free outdoor movie at The Ale House, 2531 N. 12th St.

“Old School,” starring Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell, will be shown at 9 p.m. Saturday at The Ale House, 2531 N. 12th St. The rated R film is about three friends who open a fraternity for “all the fun of college. None of the education.”

Free popcorn will be served. No ticket is necessary.
