Get the hounds ready. Doggie-only swim days at area pools are coming right up.
The first is Dog Days from 4–7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Palisade Pool, 567 W. Fifth St., in Palisade. Bring proof of vaccination. Admission is $5 for one dog or $10 for three dogs. Proceeds go to the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. Go to townofpalisade.org or call 464-5602 for information.

Dog Days at the Lincoln Park-Moyer Swimming Pool will be Sunday, Sept. 11. Small dogs (25 pounds or less) swim from 10–11:30 a.m. and all dogs can jump in the pool from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per dog or $12 for three or more dogs per family. Get your seat for a stand-up comedy show with Ben Kronberg and Aaron Urist.
The show starts at 8 p.m. Thursday at Cavalcade, 201 E. Aspen Ave., in Fruita. Admission is $10 for this age-18-and-older show.
Kronberg “Blends clever one-liners and witty observations with catchy songs that he performs while playing instruments like the guitar, casio-keyboard and loop-pedal,” according to the event’s page on Facebook.
He has performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Last Call with Carson Daly” and filmed his own special for Comedy Central, the page said.
Urist, who is based in Denver, has performed at Denver’s Comedy Works, the Hollywood Improv and the Nerdmelt Theatre and at the High Plains Comedy Festival, the page said.

If you’re a jazz fan, then consider checking out the Trevor Anderies Quintet.
The jazz ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Love Recital Hall of the Moss Performing Arts Center as part of the Guest Artist Series at Colorado Mesa University.
The jazz ensemble “explores the lines between composition and improvisation, folk, jazz and West African music,” according to a CMU news release.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and CMU faculty/staff or $5 for students.
