At the park
The first day of school (Wednesday, Aug. 16) is quickly approaching for most students and Friday is one of the last days of precious summer vacation.
So consider spending an evening filled with family fun at Lincoln Park.
From 5:30–8:30 p.m. Friday there will be the “largest collection of inflatables on the Western Slope” at Lincoln Park, according to themoose923.com.
Kids can jump with abandon at this free event and then take a breather on the lawn while listening to the Grand Junction Centennial Band Play at 7 p.m.
Following the concert and at dusk, Movies in the Park will show the film “Moana.”
Take your bug spray, comfortable chairs and enjoy the evening.

Follow the flute
The R. Carlos Nakai Quartet, featuring the beautiful Native American flute, will play the next Hear it Through the Grapevine series concert on Saturday at Grande River Vineyards, 787 N. Elberta Ave., in Palisade.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
This concert is a fundraiser for the TANK Center for Sonic Arts. The center’s home is the TANK, a 60-foot-tall steel water tank in Rangely, with amazing acoustics that have drawn musicians for a number of years and more recently has become a recording venue.
Tickets to this fundraising concert cost $20 in advance and can be purchased at granderiverwines.com, Grande River Vineyards, Fisher’s Liquor Barn, and Roper Music. Tickets cost $25 at the gate.
Those who attend can bring a chair and a picnic, but no beverages. Wine, soda and water will be available to purchase, as will dinner.

Put yourself in a daze, in a good way, with Radio Daze, a benefit for KAFM Radio.
This event goes from 3–9 p.m. Saturday at Edgewater Brewery, 905 Struthers Ave.
Sip some specially brewed 300 Watt Ale while taking in some live music. Thomasina Russell and friends, Bicycle Annie, Lincoln Pants Band and Zac Grant are the lineup.
At 8:30 p.m. there will be a drawing for several prizes — drawing tickets cost $10, or you can get three tickets for $20 — including gift cards to local businesses, hotel stays and other big items.
