Quick Picks: Fruita Fourth Friday, Blue Pig show, X Games

Tony Furtado and his band played to a sold-out crowd at KAFM’s The Radio Room on Jan. 21. The next two shows on The Radio Room’s schedule are the Denver alternative rock band The Photo Atlas on Saturday, Jan. 25, and electro-pop group Sphynx on Sunday, Feb. 2. The Radio Room is at 1310 Ute Ave.

Fruita Fourth Friday celebrates its one-year anniversary from 6-10 p.m. at numerous locations in downtown Fruita.

People can see art and fashion, listen to music and poetry or enjoy food and craft beer.

People are encouraged to dress up for the events that include the Fruita Fall Festival Centennial Quilt Show from 6–9 p.m. at Valley Gate Center, 212 Aspen Ave.

Friday, Jan. 24

Vote for art

Although Colorado Mountain Winefest is months away, it’s time for the public to pick the artwork that will be featured on the promotional poster.

The opening reception for the 2014 Colorado Winefest commemorative poster competition is from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Blue Pig Gallery, 101 W. Third St.

The public will select a winner from the submitted art. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be serviced.


Saturday or Sunday, Jan. 25–26

X Games Beat

The X Games isn’t just winter sports, it’s music with the late afternoons filled with concerts at Wagner Park in Aspen.

On Saturday, indie dance duo Matt & Kim are on from 4–5 p.m. and Phoenix, an alternative rock band France, will play from 5:15–6:20 p.m.

On Sunday, five-time Grammy-nominated dance icon Axwell will perform from 4–5 p.m. Then Tiësto, who has his own brand of music, will be on stage from 5:15–6:30 p.m.
