Show Ring comes to life at county fair

Don’t miss the final day of the Mesa County Fair, including the Mesa County Cattlewomen BBQ at 11 a.m. and the annual 4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Auction & Sale at 1 p.m. in the Show Ring. The livestock sale represents a chance to see many of the top animals from the fair be sold to the highest bidder.

Daily admission to the fair is $5 adults, $3 seniors and $1 children under 12. Children under 2 get in for FREE.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to bringfamiliar sound to GJ

 

No need to go fishing in the dark. Instead, go listen to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band sing about it during a show at 7:30 p.m. at Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St. Local band Stray Grass opens for the longtime alt-country group. Tickets are between $29 and $49 and are available at local City Market stores, Back Porch Music, 243-TIXS or at the door.

Love is in the air on ABC

 

Unlucky in love, at least on the whirlwind courting experience of “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette,” 15 former characters from those shows, along with five “super fans” of the franchise, will live together and compete for prize money (and true love) in this ABC show that returns for its third season. Let’s call it the network version of MTV’s “Real World.”
