Salute

Honor local veterans during this year’s Veterans Day Parade at 2 p.m. on Main Street.

People are welcome to bring flags and wave them along the parade route.

Last year, more than 60 floats, marching bands and units took part in the parade, according to Greg Merschel, an event organizer.

Ah, Paris

Go to Paris without leaving Grand Junction during the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s “An Evening in Paris” gala at 8 p.m. at Two Rivers Convention Center.

The gala features dancing to music provided by a live symphony. This year, the special touches include a 26-foot-tall Eiffel Tower and artists from Oakley Gallery recreating a Parisian street scene.

Tickets cost $125 per person and are available by calling 243-6787 or at the symphony’s office at 414 Main St.

 

Sunday, Nov. 10

Birds calling

While battling recurring lymphoma this year, Susan Rittenhouse turned to pencils and birds.

Her drawings, original and limited edition prints and note cards will be part of the benefit art show “Our Feathered Friends” from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Redlands home of Bonnie and Tom Clark, 633 Big Stone Lane.

The event will include a raffle for an original drawing, with raffle tickets costing $10 each.
