Make space for Artspace’s Open Studios Tour, a self-guided tour of area artists studios.

“Find treasures and works in progress not found in galleries. Meet artists to talk about art and their creative processes,” says a news release about the tour.

The tour is free and maps showing the location of each studio on the tour can be downloaded at artspacecolorado.org.

Saturday, Oct. 20

Farm for a day

Don’t live on a farm? Don’t worry. Head to Cross Orchards Historic Site, 3073 F Road, for a fun family outing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for apple cider, a hayride and more traditions associated with historic farms.

The event is free for Museum of Western Colorado members or $5 for individual adults, $4 for seniors, $3.50 for children ages 3–12 and $15 for families.

Rock out

Learn more about the earth sciences, particularly gems and minerals, during the annual Grand Junction Gem and Mineral Club 2012 Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Two Rivers Convention Center.

There will be interesting rocks for individuals of various ages to look at and ask questions about, as well as plenty
of rocks for collectors.

Show admission is $3 for adults and $10 for ages 12–18. Those 11 and younger are free with an adult.
