All that glitters

Maybe it’s the sparkle? Maybe it’s the history? Maybe it’s the fat paycheck. But gold is an appealing discovery to make, which is why the Discovery Channel’s popular show “Gold Rush” is ready to start its fourth season.

This season the show follows three mining crews across two continents in the search for gold.

Check your on-screen guide or local listings for the premiere time.

In the dark

Planet Earth & the 4 Directions Gallery, 524 Colorado Ave., hosts its annual The Dark Show reception and costume ball at 7 p.m. to exhibit artwork “dedicated to the season and the darkening days and longer nights,” according to a release from curator Caole Lowry.

There is an $8 suggested donation at the door, and costumes are encouraged.

The artwork will be on display through Nov. 7.

Strut in style

Local musician Andy Bowen and fall fashions from Pollux Clothing Co. are the stars during the KMSA Welcome Back Fall Fashion Show at 7 p.m. at the University Center Ballroom at Colorado Mesa University.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is a clothing donation to The Salvation Army, as people get rid of something in their closets to get ideas on what to add for fall and winter.
