Quick Picks: Uptown Art Colony’s show and sale; Paint the Night with Music concert; Zumbathon fundra

A wealth of art — pottery, oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and mixed media — can be found at the Uptown Art Colony’s show and sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 536 Ouray Ave.
You’ll find original 2D and 3D art, prints, cards and more created by the 12 artists who make up the Uptown Art Colony.
The artists are Judi Axthelm, Janice Copeland, Claudia Crowell, Judi DeVore, Kathy Herzog, Palea Goemmel, Claudia Heckel, Ruth Leever, Karen Moore, Peg Oswald, Sue Samuelson and Sharon Weidner.
Meet these artists, take in their art and enjoy some refreshments while you’re there.

Delight the ears
Join the Western Colorado Chorale for the concert Paint the Night With Music at 7:30 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday in the Love Recital Hall in Colorado Mesa University’s Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St. This is the chorale’s first concert of its 32nd season.
The chorale is directed by Monte Atkinson. Pianist Kathryn Mientka will accompany the chorale during the concerts.
The concert “features ‘Music of the Night:’ Stirring, contemporary choral music by internationally celebrate composer, Ola Gjeilo ... as well as selections by several distinguished American composers,” Atkinson wrote in a news release.
Tickets cost $18 for adults, $15 for seniors or $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Grand Junction Symphony office, 414 Main St., by calling 243-6787 or from any chorale member.
Thursday, Oct. 27
Join a Zumbathon and help out Colorado Mesa University baseball player Ryan Teixeira, who is battling leukemia.
This benefit and bone marrow drive will be from 6:30–9 p.m. Thursday at Brownson Arena at CMU.
Ticket cost $5 and can be purchased at the Hamilton Recreation Center front desk in the Maverick Center.
