Roaring Harleys will get Rockestra going

The roar of motorcycles will be followed by rockin’ covers of Guns n’ Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ozzy, ABBA, Lady Gaga, The Eagles, Katy Perry and others at the next GJ Rockestra concert.

This show — 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, outside in the quad next to the Colorado Mesa University Student Center — will begin with kickstands up and engine roaring on 25 or so motorcycles led by GJ Rockestra founder and director Calvin Hofer.

GJ Rockestra, an entity of the Grand Junction Symphony, performs a show of classic and current rock ‘n’ roll with a symphonic twist.

General admission tickets cost $15 or $10 if purchased in advance at Grand Junction Harley-Davidson. Rockestra season ticket holders will have a reserved section and chairs will be provided or you can bring you own.

A picnic, catered by the university, will be available to purchase. A beer and wine garden will be on the terrace outside the CMU Ballroom.

Tickets also may be purchased at the Grand Junction Symphony office in the Alpine Bank building, 225 N. Fifth St., at the CMU Robinson Theatre box office, the Student Center information desk, at or 243-6787.
