Russian pianist, Valley Symphony join for Delta, Montrose concerts
Renowned Russian pianist Kirill Gliadkovsky will join the Valley Symphony Association for presentations of “The Romantic Russians” at two venues.
Concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Delta Performing Arts Center, 822 Grand Ave., in Delta and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Montrose Pavilion auditorium, in Montrose.
“The Romantic Russians” will feature music composed by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff with the highlight of the evening being Gliadkovsky’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Concerto.”
Gliadkovsky made his first public appearance at age 6 and has toured extensively on three continents performing piano and organ recitals, according to a biography in a news release.
He also has performed in Italy, United Kingdom, Poland, Mongolia, Canada, Japan and United States. He joined the faculty of Southern Utah University in 2007 as head of the piano department. He is an orchestra and choral conductor, performs on harpsichord and as duo with his wife, concert pianist Anna Gliadkovskaya.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for those ages 17 and younger. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Homer L. Sims Agency, 901 Main St., in Montrose; DeVinny Jewelers, 321 Main St., in Montrose; and Clubb’s in downtown Delta.
