Seniors keep the high seas laughs coming in ‘Doubloon’
Pirates will invade the stage and keep you in stitches during the Grand Junction Senior Theater presentation of “The Last Doubloon.”
Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 26–27, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, March 27, at Central High School, 550 Warrior Way.
“The Last Doubloon” is a musical comedy written by Sheri Hickman and directed by Rachel Nelson Fortner.
The plot is filled with confusion and humor as pirates attempt to get loot from a ship docked in the harbor.
Interwoven into the story is the tale of sisters desperately trying to marry off their oldest sister so they too can get married.
“She’s an impossible person to marry off,” said Senior Theater actress Frances Crowell, who has the part of one of the sisters. “It’s a very funny play — fun for anyone needing comedy right now.”
Grand Junction Senior Theater features a cast age 50 and older. “The Last Doubloon” has a cast of about 20 playing barmaids, pirates and sisters.
Tickets are $10 and are available at local Safeway, Albertsons or City Market stores and at the door.
