‘Shrek the Musical’ to be at GJHS
He is big, ugly, stinky and loves mud. He’s also green and, in this situation, he sings.
Based on the Oscar-winning film, “Shrek the Musical” is “part romance, part twisted fairy tale,” according to a news release.
It will be presented by The Theatre Project on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1–2, in the auditorium at Grand Junction High School, 1400 N. Fifth St.
Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at TheatreProjectGJ.com and at the door.
“Shrek the Musical” takes place in “a faraway kingdom turned upside down,” the news release said. “Things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess.”
The musical is “full of all-new songs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery,” the release said.
Donkey, cookie, other fairy tale characters and the bad guy will all be in along for the musical.
The Theatre Project is an adult community theatre company that presents professional quality theatre and musical theatre performances throughout the year. Proceeds benefit the Youth Theatre Project, a tuition-free theatre and dance program for the youth in the Grand Valley.
